Talk about a proper place at a proper time!

A keen eye for detail and the ability to find a proper technique for a specific mood - that's what makes this photograph. Also, a big plus for your digital post production.

The more or less central composition works well here and the size of the poppy is just about right - small enough to emphasize fragility yet still big enough to create a focal point. Also, the wind in the grass is fantastic, I can almost hear it howling.

What could be improved: The sky is dramatic, yet imho it could be even more so. Maybe waiting a bit for the clouds to move could've solved the problem. Maybe not. Also, the random straws around the poppy distract the attention; I understand it could be intended to leave them there, still if it was me I'd go there and take them out before the shot.

Maybe you should consider converting this picture to BW and play around with color filters - this might give you more contrast in the clouds, and create a more supernatural feeling.

Overall it's a strong image with a bit of a story, my compliments for it.
